Davis, California, is wellknown for being a frontrunning in building it a bicycle culture and network. While developing the new Cannery neighborhood, the City asked Dutch consultant to assist in the design process. I reviewed the East Covell Corridor Plan and provided both network and design recommendations, ensuring the connectivity and accessibility of the new neighborhood, which was cut off from the rest of the City by this major arterial. Part of this study where conceptual designs of the intersections along the corridors. One of these, at J-Street, turned out to be the first protected intersection in the US.
